Supporting Special Olympics Athletes

Special Olympics Virginia (SOVA) provides year-round sports training and athletic competition of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing them with opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy. 

 

Today, more than 3 million children and adults with intellectual disabilities participate in more than 200 programs in 165 countries. In New Mexico, Special Olympics serves over 3,300 athletes, offering training and competition in 12 sports with over 60 competition opportunities. SOVA also provides health screenings free of charge as well as tailored fitness programs for athletes of all abilities.
